The Oculus

₱340,000.00

Designed to be seen from every angle.

The Oculus was designed around a 3.8ct natural garnet, set within a broad oval form that gives the stone presence without allowing it to dominate the entire piece.

From above, the garnet sits within a polished bezel surrounded by individually arranged granulated rosettes. Around the sides, the structure opens up. Pierced details, curved supports, and rows of granulation continue beneath the center setting and around the band.

There is no single front to this ring. The details continue wherever you look.

Why you'll notice this ring twice

From across the room, it's the stone.

The 3.8ct garnet sits at the center of a substantial 18k yellow gold setting, its rich color framed by polished gold.

Look closer and the smaller details begin to emerge.

Clusters of hand-fused granules form tiny rosettes across the upper surface. Fine rows of granulation trace the edges of the band. Beneath the stone, pierced openings and hidden details transform the underside of the ring into part of the design rather than somewhere the design stops.

It's a ring made to reward curiosity.

Handmade using traditional goldsmithing techniques

Every Rings by NK piece is individually handcrafted rather than mass produced.

The granulation is created by fusing individual gold spheres to the surface without visible solder, a technique dating back more than 2,500 years to the Etruscans. It remains one of the most demanding processes in jewelry making and creates detail that cannot simply be reproduced through casting.

On The Oculus, individual granules are arranged both in continuous borders and small floral clusters across the setting.

Each granule, surface, pierced detail, and setting is finished individually by hand.

The result is a piece intended to become an heirloom rather than simply an accessory.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the exact ring I'll receive?

Each Oculus is individually handmade. While the overall design remains true to the original, every piece will have subtle characteristics that make it uniquely yours.

Can it be made in my ring size?

Yes. Every ring is made specifically for the wearer and can be produced in virtually any finger size.

Can I choose a different gemstone?

Absolutely.

The Oculus can be designed around a range of colored gemstones, including garnets, sapphires, spinels, tourmalines, and selected diamonds.

Because the proportions of the setting are built around the center stone, the design can be adjusted to suit the individual gemstone rather than forcing the stone into a predetermined setting.

What makes the underside of the ring different?

The underside is deliberately part of the design.

Rather than hiding the structure beneath the center stone, The Oculus uses pierced openings, granulated borders, and sculptural supports to create detail that can only be discovered when the ring is viewed from another angle.

Are the small gold details individually made?

Yes.

The granules are individually formed, positioned, and fused to the gold surface. The small rosettes surrounding the center stone are constructed from individual granules rather than being cast as a single decorative element.

Can it be made in white gold or 14k?

Because of the extensive hand-fused granulation used throughout the design, The Oculus is produced in 18k yellow gold.

A bespoke interpretation can be created in other precious metals using alternative construction methods while preserving the overall character of the ring.

Is garnet suitable for everyday wear?

Garnet is a durable gemstone suitable for jewelry, but like all natural stones it should be protected from hard impacts and abrasive wear.

For a ring of this scale, I would treat it as a statement piece rather than something worn during heavy manual activity.

How long does it take to make?

As each ring is individually handcrafted, please allow approximately 6–8 weeks from design approval, depending on gemstone sourcing and workshop schedule.

Will I see my ring being made?

Yes.

Every Rings by NK commission includes progress photographs throughout the build, together with a complimentary proof-of-build video documenting the creation of your ring.
