The Monolith was created around an exceptional untreated black matrix opal from Lightning Ridge, Australia. Viewed from one angle the stone appears almost black. Turn it towards the light and vivid flashes of green, blue, orange and red emerge from deep within the stone. No two opals display the same pattern, making this ring impossible to reproduce.
Built entirely by hand in 18k yellow gold, The Monolith was designed as a sculptural collector's piece rather than a conventional dress ring.
The broad bezel frames the opal like a work of art, while hand-fused granulated flowers soften the architecture and create contrast against the polished gold.
Beneath the stone, a vaulted gallery of individually fabricated ribs supports the setting, allowing light to enter the opal while revealing an entirely different perspective when the ring is turned over.

The Monolith was individually fabricated over more than a week using traditional goldsmithing methods.
The ring is constructed entirely from 18k yellow gold and features hand-fused granulation inspired by the techniques developed by the Etruscans more than 2,500 years ago.
Hidden beneath the opal is a field of natural accent diamonds, incorporated as a subtle textural detail within the gallery. They are intended as an architectural element of the design rather than feature diamonds.
